Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres was born 20 March 1984 in Spain. He is a talented footballer who plays in the Premier League for Liverpool, he is also a vital part of the Spanish national team. His position is striker and he has scored some exciting and spectacular goals in his football career.

Torres started his football career at Atlético Madrid, he progressed through their youth ranks. He made his professional debut in 2001, when he left he has scored 75 goals in 174 La Liga appearances. He was nicknamed El Niño which means The Kid. He joined Liverpool in 2007. In his first season at Anfield he became Liverpool's first player since Robbie Fowler, to score more than 20 league goals in a season.

He made his debut in international football against Portugal in 2003. He has been a part of the Spanish team in three major tournaments, UEFA Euro 2004, 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2008. Torres did not score any goals at Euro 2004, but he scored three at World Cup 2006. Fernando Torres scored the winning goal for Spain when they beat Germany 1-0 in the UEFA Euro 2008 Final.
